Primorsky Krai Held a Conference on Bronchiectasis

On November 2-3, 2022, a scientific conference «Bronchiectasis: Cystic Fibrosis and not Only...» on the organization of medical care for patients with cystic fibrosis and the diagnostics of diseases accompanied by bronchiectasis.

The conference was organized by:

• All-Russian public organization «Russian society of medical geneticists»
• NMRC for Pulmonology
• Research Centre for Medical Genetics
• Scientific Research Clinical Institute for Childhood of the Ministry of Healthcare of Moscovskaya Oblast

with the informational support of «Pulmonology» journal and «Ostrova» Charity Fund.

The main objective of the conference is to discuss issues and exchange of experience, increase the coverage of genetic research of patients with cystic fibrosis, increase knowledge about the features of microbiological diagnosis in bronchiectasis, assistance in the organization of medical assistance to patients with cystic fibrosis and other hereditary diseases of the respiratory tract in the regions.

The conference was attended by more than 700 delegates (face-to-face and online) - heads of scientific institutes and leading specialists providing care to patients with bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis (paediatricians, therapists, pulmonologists, geneticists, nutritionists, microbiologists, kinesitherapists), researchers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Primorsky, Krasnodarsky, Krasnoyarsky Krai, Rostovskaya, Tomskaya, Kemerovskaya Oblasts and the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as foreign colleagues from Albania, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ecuador, Moldova and Belarus.

Within the framework of the round table «Targeted Cystic Fibrosis Therapy» the participants discussed the experience of the application of targeted drugs in adult patients and in paediatrics. The moderators of the round table were:

Elena Kondratyeva, professor, Holder of an Advanced Doctorate in Medical Sciences, head of the scientific clinical department for cystic fibrosis at RCMG, and Anna Voronkova, PhD, leading researcher of the scientific clinical department for cystic fibrosis at RCMG.

In the reports of the participants of the round table “Actual Problems of Cystic Fibrosis”  the issues of psychological support of patients with chronic lung diseases were discussed, as well as diagnostics and therapy of patients with cystic fibrosis in Primorsky and Khabarovsky Krai, Organization of measures to prevent cross-infection among patients with bronchiectasis and a number of others. The round table was moderated by Tatiana Vasilieva, Holder of an Advanced Doctorate in Medical Sciences, chief external expert in paediatrics of the Ministry of Healthcare of Primorsky Krai, and Anna Voronkova, PhD, leading researcher of the scientific clinical department for cystic fibrosis at RCMG.

On the basis of Krai Children’s Clinical Hospital 1 was held a consultation of specialists for patients with cystic fibrosis, as well as a school for parents and relatives of patients with cystic fibrosis.
