Russian Register of Patients with Muscular Dystrophy Landouzy-Dejerine Became a Member of the Global Network TREAT-NMD and Part of the Global System of Registers TGDOC

The muscular dystrophy of Landouzy-Dejerine is the third most common among hereditary muscle diseases. That is partly why the world is paying quite a lot of attention to both its study and the development of potential therapy.

TREAT-NMD is a global international organization that brings together a network of leading professionals, patient groups and representatives of the field of neuromuscular diseases. One of the main goals of this organization is to promote global collaboration, which in its turn gives the advantages in accelerating the development of advanced treatment methods.

The Russian register of patients with muscular dystrophy Landouzy-Dejerine was created on the basis of the Research Centre for Medical Genetics in 2019. This became possible after the development of a unique molecular method of diagnostics of the disease. To date, there are more than 260 cases on the register, which are added monthly.

RCMG staff successfully applied for the inclusion of the Russian register of patients with muscular dystrophy Landouzy-Dejerine as members of the global network TREAT-NMD and the global system of registers TGDOC.

Becoming a member of the global community provides an opportunity to interact more actively with specialists in this field and to participate in the annual international meetings to discuss the prospects of disease therapy.
