Svetlana Smirnikhina, Head of Genome Editing Laboratory at RCMG, Participated in the International Conference of Young Scientists of BRICS Countries

The seventh online BRICS Young Scientists Forum was held in Xiamen, China, from August 29 till September 1, 2022.

The main objective of the forum was to deepen scientific technical innovation collaboration in research and development between BRICS countries . The forum identified four areas: biomedicine, artificial intelligence, new materials and low-carbon technologies. 

Oral presentations were made by young scientists from Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa. 

Svetlana Smirnikhina, Head of the genome editing laboratory at RCMG, participated in the Biomedicine section and told about her scientific work on the development of treatment of hereditary diseases using genomic editing. The most of the reports from this section were devoted to the control of COVID-19 and the treatment of socially significant diseases such as obesity, oncological diseases and angina with innovative methods.
