Leading Russian Geneticists to Meet in Tomsk for a Conference Dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the Research Institute for Medical Genetics

On November 20-22, Tomsk will host the XIII scientific conference «Human Genetics and Pathology», dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Scientific Research Institute for Medical Genetics of Tomsk Institute.

The scientific programme of the conference includes presentations by leading Russian and foreign geneticists, exhibition of laboratory and medical equipment and traditional competition of young scientists.

During the conference, Vadim Stepanov, director of Tomsk NMRC, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will give plenary lectures and reports.

Vera Izhevskaya, Holder of an Advanced Doctorate in Medical Sciences, Deputy Director for scientific work of the Research Centre for Medical Genetics, chairman of the Russian society of medical geneticists.

The focus of specialists' attention is such fields as omix technologies in medical genetics, genetics of multifactor diseases, cytogenetics and chromosomal diseases, orphan diseases, evolutionary and population genetics, genome editing, bioinformatics, etc.

The issues of organization of expanded neonatal screening for 36 hereditary diseases, which begins in Russia from 2023, as well as the provision of medical assistance to patients with orphan hereditary diseases will be discussed by the heads of the regional medical genetic services at the Round Table in the Genetic Clinic of the Research Institute for Medical Genetics of Tomsk NMRC (3 Moscow tract, Tomsk).

The solemn opening of the conference is held on Sunday, November 20, at 14.00 at the ICH TEH (13v, Usova St), after which there at 14.45 Valeriy Puzyrev, scientific director of Tomsk NMRC, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, gives a plenary lecture «The Origins and Soviet Period of the History of the Tomsk Institute for Medical Genetics».
