Participation in the XXVI White Nights International Ophthalmological Congress

The 26th White Nights International Ophthalmological Congress took place in St. Petersburg on May 25 - 29, 2020.

The White Nights International Ophthalmological Congress discussed the achievements in diagnostics and treatment of visual organ pathology, problems of neuroophthalmology and hereditary ophthalmologic diseases, and other fundamental and applied issues of modern ophthalmology.

Research and clinical teams from Russia, USA, Germany, France, Poland and CIS countries made their presentations.  In total, 5405 participants were registered.

V.V. Kadyshev, Candidate of med. sci., senior researcher of the Genetic Epidemiology Laboratory at FSBI RCMG (headed by Prof. R.A. Zinchenko, Doctor of med. sci.) made plenary reports:

  • Genotherapy in ophthalmology: from clinical studies to clinical practice.  This topic has been presented in Russia for the first time.
  • Hereditary dystrophies of the retina

The reports aroused great interest among national and foreign participants.

The Congress defined the ways of ophthalmogenetics development and worked out the directions of interaction of the ophthalmological professional community.
