RCMG Employees Took Part in the International Conference «Medical Genetics and Genomics: Multidisciplinary Aspects»

The international conference «Medical Genetics and Genomics: Multidisciplinary Aspects» was held in St. Petersburg on March 21-24, 2023.

At the opening of the conference, Sergey Kutsev, director of the Research Centre for Medical Genetics, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chief external expert in medical genetics of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, made a welcoming speech devoted to neonatal screening in Russia.  

The conference was attended by the staff of RCMG:

  • Nadezhda Shilova, Holder of an Advanced Doctorate in Medical Sciences, head of the cytogenetics laboratory, gave a report on chromosomal inversions, meiotic segregation and phenotypic effects
  • Vyacheslav Chernykh, Holder of an Advanced Doctorate in Medical Sciences, head of the laboratory of reproduction disorders genetics, gave a report on cytogenetics of sex formation disorders and human reproduction
  • Marina Minzhenkova, PhD, leading researcher of the laboratory of cytogenetics gave a presentation «CNV Due to Pathological Meiotic Segregation of Chromosomal Anomalies»;
  • Zhanna Markova, PhB, senior researcher of the laboratory of cytogenetics, identified the problems related to the limitations of the method of chromosomal micromatrix analysis (CMA) and the possibilities of their solution.

The conference discussed the latest scientific developments in the field of modern genomic medicine and molecular cytogenetics, as well as issues related to the introduction of molecular genetic technologies in practical medicine.

Within the framework of the conference, a meeting of the working group to develop the recommendations of the Russian Society of Medical Geneticists on molecular karyotyping was held. It was attended by the staff of the cytogenetics laboratory: Nadezhda Shilova, Marina Minzhenkova, Zhanna Markova.
