The All-Russian online school with international participation dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the FSBI RCMG Cystic Fibrosis Research and Counselling Department took place

1160 multi-disciplinary clinicians (geneticists, therapists, pediatricians, pulmonologists, of clinical laboratory doctors, etc.) from Russia and other countries have registered to participate in the school. S.I. Kutsev, RAS Corresponding member, Director of FBSI RCMG, and Prof. E.I. Kondratyeva, head of the CF Research and Counselling Department, opened the school and the plenary session "History of medical care for cystic fibrosis patients in Russia is the history of the RCMG Research and Counselling Department". RAS Academician E.K. Ginter, who made a decision to establish the Department 30 years ago, shared his memories of foundation the Department and research in the CF molecular diagnostics. Prof. N.I. Kapranov, the first head of the Department, told about history of its organization and work in his presentation "Cystic fibrosis in Russia: an unfinished story." E.I. Kondratyeva reported on the outcomes of the CF Research and Counselling Department that had functioned for 30 years.

Colleagues from Europe and Russia expressed congratulations on the anniversary, including Chris Rolls (Southampton Hospital, UK), Tony Wolstenholme (Child Health International, UK), prof. Milan Macek (Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic), Dr. Olaf Sommerburg (University of Heidelberg, Germany), prof. Eitan Kerem (Hadassah Clinic, Jerusalem, Israel), Alexander Elbert (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Bethesda, USA), Dr. Luca Romano (Genoa, Italy), Ostrov Charitable Foundation, I.K.Asherova, MD, Head of the Yaroslavl Cystic Fibrosis Center, congratulations from the Russian cystic fibrosis centers and many research and medical institutions in Russia and the CIS countries. 

There was great interest in lectures by Kevin Southern, Professor at the Department of Pediatrics, University of Liverpool, ECFS Board Member, Head of the European CF Society Working Group on Neonatal Screening (Liverpool, UK) "Six years of CFSPID diagnosis; what else do we know? " and Isabelle Serme, Professor, Department of Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergology, Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades, Paris, France “Targeted therapy for cystic fibrosis”.

Acute and interesting were satellite symposiums "Genetic features of cystic fibrosis in the Russian Federation (supported by Sanofi), "COVID-19 in cystic fibrosis patients" (supported by Generium), "Bronchitol in Russia. Experience of use" (with support of Vitors Pharma), "Modern opportunities to comprehensively address the problem of nutritious insufficiency in cystic fibrosis: examples from clinical practice" (with support of Abbott), a lecture "Review of national consensus and clinical recommendations" (supported by Chiesi).

Important for clinical application were the reports included in the program "Experience in providing medical care in regional cystic fibrosis centers of the Russian Federation": "Inhaled tobramycins in clinical practice of the RF cystic fibrosis centers" (with support of LLC "MIC"), "Experience of enteral nutrition in the Cystic Fibrosis Center" (with the support of Nestlé), “Hardware techniques for CF treatment: sputum removal, oxygen therapy, ozone disinfection” (with support of Mediflex).

The Russian Society of Medical Geneticists and FSBI Academician N.P. Bochkov Research Centre organized the school for Medical Genetics.
