Nadezhda V. Shilova graduated with distinction from Sechenov 1st Moscow Medical Institute in 1986. From 1990 to November 2014, she consistently held the positions of laboratory physician-geneticist, researcher, senior and leading researcher at the laboratory of prenatal diagnosis (the Cytogenetics Laboratory) of the Research Centre for Medical Genetics RAMS. Since November 2014, she has been the head of the Cytogenetics Laboratory at FSBI RCMG.

In 1999, she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Science on "The study of fetal cells in the mother's blood: a new non-invasive approach in prenatal diagnosis." She has the highest qualification and Certificate in "Laboratory Genetics".

In 2016, she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Science on "Improving the approaches to chromosomal abnormalities diagnosis in the personalized medicine”.

Research areas include the study of genome structural variability caused by pathogenetically significant variations in the number of DNA-copies; molecular cytogenetic diagnosis of chromosomal diseases, as well as the study of the phenomenon of fetal cells in the blood of women during pregnancy; development and improvement of methods for detecting and isolating trophoblast cells in the pregnant women blood.

She is a member of the Russian Society of Medical Geneticists, the European Cytogenetic Association (ECA) and the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG). She has certificates of participation in international educational courses: “ESHG / LSHG courses for laboratory medical geneticists: translating genomics into the clinics” and Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF). Shilova N.V. with co-authors published 168 scientific papers in national and foreign editions.
