Vyacheslav Borisovich graduated from the Pediatric Faculty of Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy (now –South Ural State Medical University) in 1999, having been issued a Physician’s diploma with major in Pediatrics.
From 1999 to 2002, he has completed postgraduate training at the Research Center for Medical Genetics of RAMS majored in Genetics, where he defended his thesis “Microdeletion analysis of the AZF Locus as part of a comprehensive clinical genetic examination of men with azoospermy and oligozoospermy” supervised by Prof. Kurilo L.F. and Prof. Polyakov A.V. in 2002.
In 2015, Chernykh V.B. defended his doctoral thesis “Anomalies of sex chromosomes in sex development and human reproduction disorders” (scientific consultant was Prof. Kurilo L.F. – Head of the Reproductive Disorders Genetics Laboratory from1992 to 2017).
From 1999 to the present, Chernykh V.B. has been working at the Reproductive Disorders Genetics Laboratory, FSBI Research Centre for Medical Genetics as a researcher, senior researcher, and a leading researcher, and since 2017 as a Head of the Laboratory.
During the period from 2002 to 2015, Chernykh V.B. worked part-time as a lecturer at the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Department at the Faculty of Postgraduate Education, Evdokimov A.I. Moscow State Medical and Dental University (FSBI HE A.I. Evdokimov MSMDU under the RF Ministry of Health).
Chernykh Vyacheslav Borisovich is a member of the Russian Society of Medical Geneticists (RSMG), the Vavilov Society of Genetics and Breeders (VSGB), the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG), the Russian Association of Human Reproduction (RAHR) and the European Cytogenetics Association (ECA).
Chernykh V.B. was given prizes and awards for his achievements in scientific research: Prize of the Foundation for Assistance to Russian Medicine in the nomination "Medical and Biological Sciences" (2004), a Diploma and Prize of the Science / Interperiodica International Academic Publishing Company for the best publication in Genetics journal (2006), a Prize of Andrologists American Society (in 2011 and 2012).
Chernykh V.B. is the author or co-author of more than 200 scientific papers, including more than 60 scientific articles; he is co-author of a collective monograph and two methodical recommendations.
Research areas: cytogenetics and molecular genetics of sex development anomalies in humans, genetics of reproductive disorders (male and female infertility, miscarriages), sex chromosomes (X and Y) and their mutations, hereditary diseases associated with impaired fertility (cystic fibrosis, etc. ), non-genetic aspects of gametogenesis and its disorders.
