About the Laboratory

The Laboratory was the first to study the spectra and mutation rates in the genes predisposed to socially significant cancer among Russian patients, for example, breast and ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, familial adenomatous polyposis, gastric cancer, cancer of the uterus, etc. They developed some methods for diagnosing susceptibility to cancer of many localizations, and a great deal of practical diagnostics experience has been gained.

The Laboratory analyses the influence of functional features of genes and miRNA on a cancer tumor development. It obtained new data on the relationship of gene expression with cancer progression, survival characteristics and response to drug exposure; developed ways to individualize cancer therapy, increase the effectiveness of treatment, and reduce its toxicity

A new medication was developed for colon cancer therapy on the most modern basis - small interfering RNA. The preclinical studies have demonstrated its high efficiency and low toxicity, immunogenicity and mutagenicity.
